  • Cool show and lots of great information for composers from Yotam. However, he did say one thing that has been bothering me a little. It was when he was talking about people submitting single-sided loose leaf scores, and that obviously, if you wanted to be taken seriously, to not do this. That’s a no-brainer. Then, he went on to say that if your score is TOO NICE, that’s also a turn off?

Man, I have to say, I put a lot of effort into my music and my scores. Where is the happy medium here?

As for Caroline Shaw and the Pulitzer, I have plenty to say – all good – I think the whole thing is awesome. I may do an All the Cool Parts on the Partita – thinking about it…

    • I don’t think anybody was saying that your scores should look bad, or even rough. There’s a difference between finely crafted and overly flashy.

You should definitely do an All the Cool Parts on the Partita.
